Cancer Bats have always been the epitome of a good, but not great band.

It's nothing new for them. They've basically recorded the same album for the third time, but such hard-hitting songs as RATS, Bricks and Mortar, and Drunken Physics hold it way beyond the average.

I take back my previous comment. This album is pretty fantastic.

Boring. I want to like this band more but they continue to be very very average indeed.

Old Blood rules in my opinion. Rest of the album is good, but nothing to write home about.

Just dl'd this. Are there a lot of "talking" sections in this like there were in the songs they released early? I didn't like that.

More standard screams than talking sections, still a few places where they occur, however.

RATS, bricks and mortar, and breathe armageddon have some serious riffs

I actually thought the 'talking' vocals were really cool, gave the album more vareity

Just more of the same basically. I'm not discounting the fact that 'Rats', the title track and 'The void' all play a vital part in keeping the band's sound fresh and alive, but you can't ignore the fact that they've been sticking to the same sound since their first album. It's nothing bad, but it doesn't really open them up to new fans either. 'The void' is inf act the only song on the album that seems to deviate from the aggressive, punk-fuelled nature of every other song. On this song there is a slight sludge metal influence with the guitars, but even then you come to expect the same. Like I said, for die-hard fans of the band or even Hardcore Punk, this is probably Gold Dust. For those expecting a bit of variety, you may as well give this a miss.
