^I can definitely understand the favorite Sabbath statement. It's got an amazing performance by Ozzy and for me it's even more experimental than SBS.

Volume 4 is my least favourite.

Its close, but Volume 4 has more high points (Supernaut, Snowblind) even if it isnt as consistent as a whole.

I prefer HITS and SOTU to Supernaut and Snowblind

"Volume 4 is my least favourite."
Highly agree. "Snowblind" is the only track that I really go back to. This is by far my favourite Sabbath record. It has "Megalomania", which I still argue is Sabbath's greatest song.

I would be inclined to agree with you Pepper.

Oh thank you. I've been wanting to edit this a bit, I hate my writing style from my regular user days. but I'm glad it's been received well.
I'm glad to see people agree about Sabotage here. Every time I get into "Sabbath's best" conversations in real life, this one always gets little love. but I suppose Master of Reality, Vol. 4, and Paranoid outshine it for good reasons.

Yeah, I'm careful not to claim that this is better than the original 4, but it's certainly under-rated and I love the production, as well as the balance between experimentation and heaviness achieved.
Plus, who can deny that Ozzy fuckin rocks the shit out of this album?

"Snowblind" is the only track that I really go back to.
Really? Vol. 4 has quite a few of my favourite Sabbath songs, Snowblind obviously being one of them but I also rate Supernaut, Wheels of Confusion and Under the Sun up there with Sabbath's best. As a whole though the album is definitely let down slightly by its inconsistency and lack of flow. Still love it though.
