Still haven't listened to this but the single was killer. These guys especially with George have always been great with their vocal/instrumental interplay.

In Cannibal Corpse's documentary Centuries of Torment, the drummer Paul confirmed that Jim Carrey was

a fan, he asked them if they could play Hammer Smashed Face and some of their earlier demo songs they

even they had forgotten about. I also take Corpse's word over Blabbermouth

Well Jim Carrey did quasi-reference them in 'Pet Detective', when he arrived at a Cannibal Corpse concert. I was like, 'he must dig these guys'.

Another point that I will make about CC is that they actually write pretty complex riffs and make it sound simplistic, which I think turns some people off because it just sounds like the same old, same old. However, I find each of their albums have a distinct flavor to them. Everyone has opinions, but one can't deny that they write intricate riffs.

Yeah Shuyin, the last couple with Jack Owens were uninspired, but when they got Bennet and O'Brian working together, then it was kicking ass again.

And by simplistic Capt., I do mean playing with ease cause their skilled musicians. I use it a lot, as you can see I stated they write intricate riffs.

Well, I loved Evisceration Plague, and I am sure I will enjoy this one thoroughly, but I can see what you mean Capt. with it lacking in some parts. In interviews they wanted to try and out do themselves...so, maybe instead of focusing on songwriting, they decided to push the envelope more than songwriting.

"yeah maybe but a successful album needs to have the balance of the two" - exactly Capt. That's why I can't stand a lot of tech metal because its all wank and less focus on song quality. I mean, I am impressed with what these guys can do, but please write a good song. I have always hated wankers like Satriani, Vai, and Malmsteen for those reasons.
