Word. I think this is his strongest second half to an album yet. I mean, his other ones never really got weaker towards the end, but this album just gets stronger by the time you hit Belles and then it's just oh god I came

This might be his best so far. Definitely better than his previous two releases (by quite a bit, really) and probably better than The Mysterious Production of Eggs).

WeepingBanana, you give me hope for May 9th.

Seriously. Way too excited for my own good. (The fact I'm going with my great friend I don't see much doesn't help).

Also, favorites by far are Orpheo Looks Back and Danse Carribe. If he plays those live I can die of happiness.

I was pretty happy with the whole last paragraph of this review, and then Metacritic quoted the lamest part of the review. basterds.

Not gonna pass up the chance to catch him live in June. Definitely need to look into the back catalogue beforehand,
though.

His early albums, before Mysterious Production of Eggs, gets sadly overlooked-- it's not the indie pop people know him for now, but The Swimming Hour is one of his best works as a sort of pastiche of so many different musical styles over a wide range of history

Yeah the Swimming Hour is sick, I probably would have never heard it hadn't I read your review on it.
