I have some punk fives. It's just pop punk that sucks ass. Or the bands I've heard at least.

"Ok I’ll explain myself then lol. You gotta be in the right mood for punk. Definitely not a genre for every demographic either."
but you can say this...about...pretty much every genre...tons of people hate metal, tons of people hate country, I mean you name it

Yeah, exactly, buttboy. People can like/dislike any subgenre/genre.

@pika this is barely pop punk tho. compared to misfits, or dead kennedys, ok sure. but this band pretty much never interacts or tours with your main pop punk bands like wonder years, TSSF, neck deep, etc.

Not a fan of much pop punk but I like Mxpx

Yeah, I guess I didn't make myself clear. Different pop punk bands sound differently, yes. But the ones I've heard, I did not care for at all. Including Menzingers.

Pop punk should at least be fun if nothing else. This band isn’t even fun

Nah, it's mainly for sad fucks fighting mid-life crisis. Kinda puzzles me why butt likes them.

Genre labels in general are fucking lame if we wanna get super meta.

Main thing genre labels are good for is for identifying tropes that the artist may have fallen for. This gets called punk cuz of heavy reliance on crunchy guitar riffs, self-deprecating lyrics, garage-level production, and anthemic hooks.
In general, electric guitars are waning in popularity, self-deprecating lyrics and lo-fi production standards aren’t for everyone, and anthemic hooks are fairly one-dimensional. So disliking this album for any of those reasons is perfectly fair.
However, I do like this album, so I’m really just playing devils advocate.

"This band isn’t even fun" - obviously subjective so hardly worth arguing, but it's kinda hard to honestly say songs like Good Things, Tellin Lies, and In Remission are not fun songs. This is one of the most fun bands I know
"it's mainly for sad fucks fighting mid-life crisis." - not sure where to start so I just won't (are you sure you're not confusing them with The National?????)

lol I like this band and think those are both pretty accurate statements

the nostalgia-heavy aspect to their lyrics are fun to me. apparently you two see it as a midlife crisis thing? wack
one more I want to address: "Kinda puzzles me why butt likes them." - check the averages in case you haven't in a minute. It's not just me homie lmao. very few people actively dislike this band

"Nah, it's mainly for sad fucks fighting mid-life crisis"
lol are you talking about this album?? Id suggest listening again man, youre tagging this with generalizations that just simply dont fit

I guess it's an American thing. I hardly find their lyrics relatable.

TIL you're not american lol
and yeah you're probably right to some degree, though it seems like you'd still be able to see how they can be largely relatable even if not to you specifically
