Fair enough. In any case, I for one think that Veil has always meant to include clean vocals, and while matriarch isnt anything mind blowing, its a step in the right direction for the sound I think they should have

Which is? Being a Periphery cover band?
Wow aside from a few tracks is much much worse than you guys described it. It's painfully average. From leaders to members of the level B chugchug core bands, oh how the mighty have fallen

"the issue i had with both id and common man's collapse was the production and brandon's fairly boring vocals and lack of variety (he really sucked on common man's)"
do you mean the guitar tone specifically, like how thin it was? I always thought that was a good part of the charm for id, and I was actually dissapointed when less of that was here. Same goes for his vocals, they had charm and I always knew it was VoM when I heard those

They sound nothing like periphery, save for a vocalist with a high register, and their most used element since the beginning of their career has been breakdowns and chugging. No use complaining in that area.
And yeah, i cant appreciate a muddier production with stuff like deathcore, and Brandon's vocals vary from person to person im sure, as my friends and i were always split with him

Matriarch is pretty good if you don't pay too much attention to it.
Mikasa belongs in its own, more junz album though for sure

Mikasa and Ellie are the only 2 songs worth listening to.

I not sure how listening to their old material you could think that they have always meant to sound this shitty, but ok

Brandon lacked any variety as a vocalist, cleans or not. Marc's songwriting has always been ready to expand into new areas instead of being restricted to technical deathcore, Lukas is the band's conduit to change their sound.

Brandon lacked variety? YIKES. Brandon shits on the new guy from a bird's eye POV. And of course when he leaves the band's new stuff pales in comparison. Also, Matriarch does nothing new in terms of songwriting, besides adding cleans which were really unnecessary.

Brandon was by far one of the most cookie cutter deathcore vocalists in the scene, in a band that deserved far more. They're not the same band anymore, and their songs on Matriarch are clearly different in structure when compared to previous releases.

Ellie is a bit of a jam

Disagree with this, Brandon was a fine vocalist, and I definitely wouldn't describe him as "cookie cutter"

Brandon was utterly unremarkable. Not that this new faggot is any better

"Brandon was utterly unremarkable. Not that this new faggot is any better"
dunno why this comment made me laugh so hard
|
| |
I thought it was a bit harsh
He could very well be a great guy, calling him a "faggot" for virtually no reason is just kinda unnecessary
