Jdrichie - Pop is short for popular and it's still a genre, isn't it?

This album is great. I listened to it straight through yesterday, and I love it. Not one song is terrible, and the musicianship is amazing. The solo to Vision Of Division and the twin leads in Razorblade are excellent. And Juicebox, ageeing with Spat, is the song of the year.

I'll give The Strokes credit for actually changing their sound for once. I was sure they were going to stick with the retro thing, but apparently they can change.
Whoever thought they sounded like Television on their first albums, though, needs to listen to this one. Now they're pushing into that territory, specifically with songs like "Razorblade." It's not a bad sound, just not original. Much like The Strokes' entire career.

I must say, The Strokes are the defenition of cool. Don't give a fuck guys who are to cool to be mainstream.
And I've never heard Television, so I dont really care if they're not original.
|
| |
Yeah it's best that you haven't heard of Television, because they piss all over these guys in greatness.

IMO, this cd is good. But just good. I haven't listened to it in a while and I'm in a Patton and Tool mood ATM, so maybe I can't really remember...

You Only Live Once is the highlight of the cd...sadly its the first track... :S

The Strokes just dont do it for me. It doesnt inspire me, make me think, want to learn how to play it, or really make me want to do anything besides change it to the next track. Anyways, the point is, its BLAND.
Nice review, BTW.

I hate these guys. I see nothing talented about them. And teh singer is awefully
annoying. This CD is just drull, and I couldn't wait till it was over, so i ended it at
track 5 asnd just schemed the rest in hopes of something worth while. This Message Edited On 03.07.06

whats the point of writing a comment on a band you dont like. This is as good an album as any other this year (appart from `stadium arcadium` and the arctic monkeys debut)
