Agreed, take the opener away and then you'll have a solid record.

still amusing how not terrible this is. but it's also not really worth revisiting more than one song every few months.

This is surprisingly enjoyable.

Regardless of their singer, Van Halen have not released a decent album since 1990, and this does nothing to change that. Good to see Dave back but this is nowhere near in the same league as their first 8 albums

She's the Woman is such a great song, then again it was written before the debut was even released so it's no surprise. My favorite here is still China Town though

Yeah this is a pretty fun record but I'll never understand how the average rating of this can be higher than the Diver Down average :| The records are worlds apart tbh...

This just rocks harder and Eddie is absolutely on fire, even on Tattoo. I could probably bump DD to a 3.5 if I spent some time with it though, because its "experimental" nature is pretty underrated. Agreed about the avg rating. A 3.2 is very low on Sputnik where people seem to believe that good albums begin at 3.5. I like both more than 1984

Fair enough Sabrutin but I'll never get the same feeling from this as from Diver Down. DD just makes me happy when I listen to it, brings dem feels for me. It's just... the time when DD was released gives it a special atmosphere, this sounds a bit uninspired and forced in parts by comparison somehow.

But this is still a fun record and way better than I thought it possible though.

It is absolutely SHAMEFUL that this album is .5 higher than Balance. It should be AT LEAST .5 LOWER.
