If the 3 middle songs had been recorded properly, I maintain this would be one of Kayo Dot's best releases. They don't sound too bad on the vinyl version, where they were remastered/mixed better, but they still sound pretty muddy at times.

i kinda dig the muddiness though, feels like it puts me in the middle of a stormy scottish loch or something

This grew a lot on me. It caused me a poor impression when I first heard it but over the years it has captivated me, I might even go as far as giving it a 4.5 soon.

if the middle track was good and the opener was less overrated this would probably be very underrated idk

Loving that people are repping this album again. It's an EP, but Stained Glass is awesome as well.

In new interview, Toby mentions that he’s happy the interviewer brings this album up bc no one talks about it and he likes it. Also origin of this album is that Toby felt black metal during this time was lazyily written and he wanted to write a more thought provoking bm LP. He also mentioned that the lofi recording of the album (recorded live due to money constraints) lends itself to classic lofi bm. He did say that black metal has gotten better in recent years and name dropped Krallice and Deathspell Omega

The contrarian in me wants to say this 3rd best KD but Coyote nipped in first and got that role so have to bite the bullet and say this is prob the default worst
