When this first came out it took a while for me to get into because I was having trouble getting past the production of the middle 3 tracks. I've grown to appreciate it more, and I also get that the poor production lends itself well to the overall aesthetic of shittily produced black metal, but I personally never got into that era of music and I wish I could hear the music on this album more clearly. It's unfortunately my least favorite album simply because of that and I kind of wish there was a version of the album that was actually recorded in a studio because I do actually like the songs. The openers and closers on Gamma Knife are great too and pretty much the only ones I still regularly visit.

The bookends are by far the best, but the middle three songs have their strengths too, especially Rite. No lower than a 3 out of 5 for me.

Yeah I’ve had times where this felt like a 5 and I’m usually in the mood to bump. An amazing album.

Insanely underrated Kayo Dot album. Ocellated God is like Edd Ed' N Eddy being crucified.

keeping this out of the Choirs thread bc spoilers for anyone catching that set
but jfc they played Ocellated God at the end of the encore and I feel like I've been drowned in chaos and resurrected with a new appreciation for that track. absolutely wild (and damn, hella bass shred)

Wait, you were there? I hate you Johnny.
I wish they'd just re-record this so the three middle tracks sound incredible. I don't think the intention was ever to mix studio with live recordings, but that they didn't have enough money to do a studio recording of the whole thing.

Yeah re-recording those to sound like Hubardo for example would be great, especially if there's more to appreciate about my least favorite song by the band, Ocellated God.
