"I think we can all agree (if were smart), that Things Fall Apart, Illadelph Halflife, and Game Theory are the three best Roots albums."

Do You Want More is the Roots album that took me the longest to appreciate to its full intent, but
it's just sooooo good. Puts you in some kind of mood, can't even explain it.
Things Fall Apart is the best one without a doubt, and Phrenology is the worse. Aside from those two I
can totally get any ranking

Phrenology has maybe 2 or 3 good songs (The Seed, Break You off, Rhyme and Ammos, and Thirsty is kinda cool), but apart from that it's pretty bland imo.
Do You Want More has so much punch and groove, Datskat, Proceed, Mellow My Man and I Remain Calm are all part of the best Roots songs ever imo. I also love how the Roots were all about jam sessions back then, their music was so spontaneous.

I Remain Calm and Datskat are great, I just think that album drags. Then again Im not much of a jam session music fan

Tipping Point is the only piece of shit this band has dropped imo.

"Im not much of a jam session music fan"
That may be it.
@chambered, I love this album though, and I wholeheartedly disagree woth your review. The Roots are
my favorite band by far, and this is one of their best albums in my opinion. I do agree that it's
easy to get into (in fact I've showed this to a lot of people and everyone seemed to like it, even
people who don't usually listen to hip-hop), but that has never been a problem for me (which
explains for instance why I have Late Registration as a 5).
I too prefer albums that take some time getting into (like Things Fall Apart), but I never
discriminate on an album that is accessible.
EDIT : which is also the reason I can't agree with this : "Tipping Point is the only piece of shit
this band has dropped imo."
As far as "Long Time" goes, I have a special connection to this song since it's one of my first
memories of listening to a song while completely baked and fully digging it... good times

Dun and Sleep are crap, the last 4 tracks are pointless, but 3-10 is just pure gold.

eh, disagree with your opinion. Great album and their second best imo after things fall apart

I don't think the Roots are the kind of band to bow down to public expectations or whatever though,
they strike me as a band that has always put the quality of the music in the forefront, not giving a
shit about what other people think, radiohead-style.
?uestlove is a very intelligent man, and I doubt he's ever played one note that didn't come straight
from his soul, so I think that argument is invalid (that fact that it's a copout)
But then again I'm a huge Roots fan (stan, homer, whatever) so of course i'm not gonna agree with such
a rating.
