I only learned about Shiner about 4 months or so ago. "Where have they been all my life" is exactly how I feel.
They remind me a ton of Tool / A Perfect Circle. They're just so good.
Also recently learned Fantastic Planet by Failure and that is about as good as this album / Lula Divinia and reminds me a ton of Maynard's stuff too- Maynard even covered a track of theirs (with APC).

I do think the comparision with 'size can be made, though it is more relevant on an idea level than on a sonic level. I get the same kind of cyncism that you hear on Effloresce or Frames from the lyrics too sometimes. The Truth about Cows seems to be a criticism of mainstream consumerism and the modern lifestyle in general, kind of like on OKC too. So you could even make the point that they both are influenced by Radiohead in that area too

im just so glad we have another convert
band is criminally overlooked, especially considering how popular Hum is and the ties they have with that band (this was produced by hums singer, Shiners drummer filled in for Hum one tour a few years ago, both bands considered eachother peers etc)
