So they made tracks, roadtested them, and then released them? I don't think that's ever happened before....

They might be average here, but there are some great new mixes/remixes from them with other artists out there atm strangely enough.

If the next level is copying what's popular with the kids right now, then sure why not

I don't think so, they are not copying at all what's popular with the kids these days, for two reasons... firstly Knife Party are still not popular with the kids these days (at the moment) cause they are still listening to Skrillex and friends and their mainstream fart music.

And secondly Knife Party are taking the electronic music that you say is 'popular with the kids right now', making it more intense, more complex and less subtle, resulting in a completely new sound, electro house, moombahton and dubstep for headbangers.

1. They can copy what's popular without being popular themselves, which they are anyway.

2. You can hardly make music less subtle than popular electro house/dubstep. You could I guess argue that they are more intense than artists like Skrillex, Zedd, Porter Robinson, etc (even though it depends on the songs you're comparing) but it's a really marginal difference if even that and not really new in any way

Throwing eight different things together in hopes that something will stick doesn't make it complex, it just makes it a fucking mess. If these guys were new to music, I could simply say oh hey "maybe they've been making this stuff for awhile and are just now releasing this stuff". But the fact that it's 2 guys from pendulum who 2 years ago had nothing to do with the scene are now hopping on the electro/dubstep bandwagon and churning out the same shit as Skrillex/Feed Me/Zomboy/Zeds Dead/Klaypex/etc etc etc etc...... well, don't really see that as bringing anything new to the table. If you like it that's fine, but it's hardly innovative or taking anything to the next level

I feel that Gareth and Rob are producing to much greater standard than the others on the scene such as Skrillex and all them other mediocre kids. Knife Party didn't jump on the bandwagon because it was popular though, they did it because they wanted to experiment with other forms of music, a little out their comfort zone. Other than that, I'm new to this website and I think we should be ilybfflz. I myself am looking forward to Knife Party's new EP 'Rage Valley', but after hearing a preview, I'm not expecting anything that's any different from this EP.

???

They were already experimenting with other forms of music, just listen to Immersion. Perhaps I'm just being too cynical here, but I find it more than just a little coincidental that the two genres they decided to experiment with (dubstep and electro) happened to be the two biggest things within the American edm scene

"ilybfflz" - derived from the anagrams ILY (I love you) and BFFL (Best Friends For Life), is a slang term for 'good friends' originating in 2010 from Australia. Oh noes, they're such sell-outs ay... how dare they make Electro House and Dubstep! But anywayz, this has been a great experience on this amazing website, I like it here. What should I listen to when I'm finished with Clubroot III Deviant you great person?
