Yeah I didn't really know what to put for the summary. Gonna think of one right now though because it would look better with a summary for sure haha.

you could probably take out "Sputnik's very own Foxblood releases his" and just put "a debut demo that shows how to correctly pull off the mixture of black metal and shoegaze." since you mention me in the first paragraph anyways. otherwise awesome

they're a pretty standard volume for the genre, maybe even louder than a lot of black metal like this. they're purposefully drowned in reverb. but glad you liked it andcas

The songwriting seems solid.

I don't really like the guitar tone (too much treb) or the drum production. You do pull off the atmosphere really well though.

Judging by my experience, the treble-y guitar tone is pretty normal with this kind of music.

It's not usually this sharp.

yeah i prefer relatively noisy, treble-heavy production. just a personal preference i guess, but i don't think i made it unusually sharp. glad you like the atmosphere

and damn thanks a lot ignimbrite

Basically my gripe is this is not dark enough (for my tastes). Regardless, nice job.

oh i see, yeah i understand that dude. it's definitely not a traditional dark bm tone. it's much more of a shoegaze tone, which was a stylistic choice. playing with a gliding style doesn't really work with an overly dark tone. cool thanks

i just finished track one and two. Very nice atmosphere.

@someguest

I like dark too, but imo these tracks give a sense of despair that holds solid emotion.

@foxblood

The vox are perfect, any louder would diminish the atmosphere. Also, thanks for sharing, this is my
first experience with "shoegaze", and a pleasant experience at that. I don't know how much you
experimented with the drums in regards to their effects, but I wonder if adding more re-verb on the
drums would mesh better with this style. I say this because every sound is laced with beautiful re-
verb but the drums seems to come in a little sharp in the mix.

Great job though, and I'll be looking forward to your full length even if it takes more than a year.
Trust me I've learned to be patient, ahhem Wintersun. ;]

seed, these are my biggest influences:
my bloody valentine - loveless(best album ever)
my bloody valentine - isn't anything
lilys - in the presence of nothing
the jesus and mary chain - psychocandy

in regards to the drums yes, my initial mix had the drums much lower. however, with the drums low with more reverb, i felt like there wasn't anything driving the music forward. it sounded flat. and if you add too much reverb to a blastbeat it sounds like a complete mess. and i'm still waiting on wintersun too lol

thanks guys, I'll check those recs out

I felt the volume of the drums was fine. Instead of the drums being much lower, a tad lower would have been nice, but I understand what you mean with the re-verb drowning out the rise. Usually a medium hall re-verb is safe to use with drums, as it can give you just a slight effect without overpowering the actual point of the drums. I'm sure you'll figure it out as I could kinda tell that you may have wanted the drums to have more of an ambient effect.
