a lot of these bands don't seem to understand that meshuggah was never about being super intelligent and deep math metal. in pretty much every interview with thordendal or haake or hagstrom that i have seen, they've said that they just make the music that they think sounds good and it's really not as complicated as many people say
for some reason, half of their imitators have the exact opposite approach to songwriting and the other half water it down and add mainstreamcore vocals *cough* periphery *cough*

You have a point. But in the end they're shat on for one reason or another lol. I think even if they took on the Meshuggah approach they'd shat on for being Meshuggah clones (which they already get). It's a lose-lose-lose situation haha

I vehemently repulse this "Meshuggah clones" shit. Who's to even say any of these bands are actually trying to sound like Meshuggah? And why should anyone question the "technical/intricate" way they write their music? I mean, on one hand people question the way they "tryhard" to make their own thing, and on another they criticize the bands for being Meshuggah clones? Well other than that, "Meshuggah clones"...? Yeah that's just too fucking dumb.

not me, i just criticized the fact that they try too hard to appear deep and intellectual without being that and all the while disregarding the need for good song structure and actually interesting music
