I really don't know why people like this more than their debut. the songwriting is much more better. I guess im just more inclined towards this more band-centric AAL's.
stoked to see them in May

This took such a long time to grow on me but now I like it just as much as their first

This band is the opener for the Thrice show I'm going to. Being as they're an instrumental band I guess I'll just wait to hear them at the show.

Nah I like seeing live bands when I've never heard them.
I saw Anberlin, Emery, and Trophy Scars live before I ever heard them.

I saw AAL as main support for meshuggah recently, and i thought it was an absolutely epic show, although my expectations weren't high at all. Whereas the band's brand of instrumental progressive metal works exceedingly well in the studio, i had the perception that it wouldn't quite have worked as well live. Nonetheless, i was proved totally wrong. Each member of the band were quite obviously in the knowledge that what they were doing in their own respective area resonated fully with the audience, and though some may have preferred a vocalist to be there, i don't think it would have worked with one. So, onto 'Weightless', an album that isn't quite as immediately exciting as the band's debut, but still hits hard in the areas that count the most. Such impressive songs as 'To lead you to an overwhelming question' and the title track keep the listener occupied, and salivating for more. The only thing i could say is that the shorter songs could have had more significance had they been lengthier, but then again, these songs are impressive in their own particularly eye-opening way.

Despite their amazing skills and remarkable sound, i just can't get used to it.
Tosin and his projects are amazing and he deserves to be looked up as a genious within modern metal
Tracks 5 and 10 are the only ones i could possibly rate. From the release itself, i will abstain of scoring... Wouldn't make justice to the band's great effort.

"Tracks 5 and 10 are the only ones i could possibly rate."
man the first 4 tracks from this are amazing! the ending of earth departure holy shit so good

Oh, i didn't mean that the rest was crappy for me, it's just that it doesn't play much like something i go after.
Shame on me for not being able to enjoy Weightless, i guess it's just not my cup of tea. I found 5 and 10 to be more "metal" oriented, carrying more momentum i guess.
Still, very pleasant to listen to, and the band's work demands respect. Earth departure was also good though.. Indeed it was
