Tbh, this has fewer weaknesses than Mezz imo, but also fewer highlights.

You referring to the new one or this? I'd give that description to this. It's nocturnal, lush, just surreal enough while having the ethereal beauty of Cocteau Twins and Twin Peaks music. The more accessible songs on here sound like a sci-fi/fantasy twist on classic James Bond themes. Human and Oompa Loompa are pretty good, but the rest of this is just incredible, and it's interesting how they never repeated this sound again in future releases.

Tales of us and silver eye are both excellent as well

I like that they didn’t try and replicate this. Adds to its uniqueness and mystery, almost like a Goldfrapp album from another timeline.

Agreed with you both.

Seventh Tree and Tales of Us are their next best imo

Tales of Us is the closest to this stylistically, and probably their second best imo

Black Cherry will always get the most spins, however

Tales of us is honestly really close to this, for me. The opener might be my favourite Goldfrapp song
