That reminds me that I still should listen to this.

Seems to me Warp isn't really actively searching for original talent anymore, rather than just pick up people who already made a name for themselves on another label (see also: Mount Kimbie).

that ford and lopatin album is damn awesome and i wish it got more attention or at least wasnt slotted in with this sort of "retro!! chillwave" vibe because it's actually an incredibly labored album lmao

Exactly Sona, Channel Pressure has alot more going for it than a lazy hat-tipper to beach boys harmonies and tropical instrumentation drenched in reverb. In fact, it doesn't really have any of that. It's just a really solid synth pop album.



I'm kind of hoping the new OPN sounds a bit like that (but a little more obscure, knowing Lopatin's sonic trickery)
