It's pretty bland; I'd jam it just because its Megadeth and you have to know their discog, but beyond that pretty average!

I'm gonna demote this to a 3, since I have plenty of problems with it.

The guitar leads on this are awesome

No they're not.

:edit: They're okay solos, but they feel too generic. They're awesome if you compare them to those of a crappy guitarist, but certainly not by the band's own standards.

In fact, one of the problems with this album is that the band tries too hard to replicate its technical formula. IMO, they should release an album with more acoustics next time, softer stuff. Technical solos can only get you so far once they become your trademark.

Cryptic writings and thirteen are 2.5s

Cryptic Writings is tough to get into, but it's actually quite good. Risk and TWNAH are pretty weak imo.

Very average album. It's basically reworked songs, singles, and uninspired toons stretched to an absurd 57 minutes.

Biggest flaws of the album are Dave's vocals and lyrics. In short, they have gone to the shitter. Live, Dave sounds like Mickey Mouse. On the album he just half-signs. The lyrics on 'Guns, Drugs, & Money' and 'Fast Lane' are horrendous.

Sudden Death is the only classic off the album and what do you know... It was written before the album was even in the works. Sudden Death has Broderick's only memorable solo from his stint with the band.

Public Enemy No. 1 has some great riffs, but the lyrics are laughably bad.

Black Swan, though a reworked song, is much better than the original. Killer intro riff and decent solo.

Never dead has a classic Deth riff. They need to play this live more.

The rest of the album is average-horrible.

Megadeth will always be best when they thrash and use technical solos. Enough of the radio rock.
