I guess I'll have to check out the other releases, though I've only heard horror stories about Retro and the sounds used therein.

Retro is definitely their least loved album because they experimented with old video game bleeps and bloops and all that shit. It's the black sheep also because it doesn't continue the storyline created throughout the first 3 albums.

Tbh, my only problem with it is that there are too many instrumental tracks and not enough with vocals.
