No, it's at least excellent... & I think it's superb.

Ignore that. I checked out The National on Spotify and it's not a very accurate description.

I concur, it's excellent for now. And it's absolutely not like The National, much more upbeat and diverse in mood. I particularly like the gazey soundscapes and the muddy drumming.

Ha ha. I'm not a big fan of most the stereotypical things that people assume the staff/mods listen to.

"toxin, I'll take the complement, but I saw the punchline coming a mile away."
"Punchline" implies some sort of joke. It wasn't a joke at all.

Alright. I didn't find "Easy to Love" and "Endless Summer" to be that amazing, but the list of recommended albums on the review and the universally high scores here have convinced me to get this.

Either/or, I'm not the hugest fan of The national anyway, so you don't have to like The National to like this. Like Tinco said, this is mostly upbeat & diverse in mood. Well said.

Oh & Trey & I are like the anti-Staff. We're on Staff for a reality check.

Oceanus, you don't like 'Endless Summer'... Or it just took a while to grow on you?

toxin, change "punchline" to "conclusion", "end result" or anything similar.

Definitely still give it a go AsoTamaki. They have moved on from their EPs & 'Endless Summer' does stand out as the obvious single. Most of the rest of the album is significantly more expansive.

SS, what's this spending money think you speak of?

Atmosphere, guitar, vocals... All a check. What about the drums man... The drums, the drums!

One small nitpick I have with this band is the lack of a bassist. Are the basslines I'm hearing in these songs the work of the keyboardist, or does the guitarist play bass and hire in a session bassist for live?

On certain songs, I'm also unsure... But you can tell that on some tracks, it is Heather doing the work on keys.

"Trycolour" is phenomenal. That one really stood on on my first listen. Unfortunately, I was semi-distracted during the second half of the album, but I look forward to getting deeper into this tomorrow.

What about the drums man... The drums, the drums!
Hell yeah, man. The opening track caught me off guard with how spectacular the drums were.

Oh no, another person making me feel guilty about 'Trycolour'. I love it, I promise.

I just love the way the drums are mixed here.
