PotAgo post in other thread

Also, if you arent getting fired up about new music from bands you used to love it's probably just because your interests have changed and wasting your time slogging through music that you no longer feel passionate about isnt going to help.

How many long ago Anberlin fans feels attacked after reading that?

Definitely not attacked but that sounds like a pretty accurate description of me.

There are still some Anberlin songs I get the urge to listen to. Dismantle.Repair, Unwinding Cable Car, and (*fin) have all held up well from this album. But I have no interest in listening to any of their uptempo rockers or whatever these days -- my interest in that kind of music is totally gone.

I haven't listened to them as often after the hiatus, but I still enjoy their music when I do play them.

Be interested to see what they come up with for a new album.

I try to keep branching outward musically, but I rarely have a complete loss of interest in stuff that I really liked at one point. I have had a few bands drop steeply off the radar and only have a song or two come to mind every so often, but I don't see Anberlin being one of those anytime soon.

Same here. Anberlin were those bands I jammed so much growing up that they hold too much meaning for me to just completely lose interest. There more than a band at this point but a part of my life really.

"Hello Alone" is easily one of the best songs here. I kinda wish I loved this album more, as so many people do, but I find it's such a tough listen. Rare album where even though I don't exactly love it, I still consider it to be a classic. "Godspeed" will probably always be my favorite song by Anberlin. I just adore that chorus and everything about it really. Can we all just agree that "Alexithymia" is the worst song on here by a mile? I kind of like the lyrics "with downcast eyes", that's a clever and descriptive line, but "there's more to living than just being alive" as the chorus? Comes across, at least to me, as some amateurish poetry student mistaking something generic for something profound. The "la la la la la la"s in "Unwinding Cable Car" are pretty obnoxious too, and I actually quite like that song.

whoa what's up Ecnalzen, it's been a long while!

Yeah, it's like, I'm sure if I had to listen to an Anberlin album, I'd enjoy my time with it. But I just never get that urge anymore. My music taste is all over the place these days, and my suspicion is I'd like Vital and Lowborn more than their earlier albums (even though Cities used to be my favorite)

god damn I get sad every time I see people reminding me they got to see Anberlin. I think one of my biggest regrets when I die will be not having seen them. I've seen every artist I've ever been really passionate about, even if it means waiting a decade for them to come up to Alberta, but it just never happened with Anberlin and I'll forever be sad about that.

And these guys aren't leaving my rotation anytime soon, like some others here they were integral to my formative years as a teenager and so I will forever tie memories to them. But it is funny how my interest in my favorite songs of theirs can wane, and then I find as I age that the songs that didn't do anything for me are suddenly new favorites. They really grew as they went and they left behind a lot of diverse tracks that can hit you differently at different parts of your life, and it can be like listening to them for the first time ever. Gosh I love these guys.

What's up fellas, I haven't posted much after a month-long comedown from ecstasy that both put me in a deep depression but also completely changed my habits and how I think. Mushy atm.

The live albums from this and Friendship *final show are some of the best live albums ever. The audience is like an additional instrument they are so into it.
