Have to listen to The Wake of Magellan, Streets: A Rock Opera and Poets and Madmen some time, I cherish everything else.

They're not among my favourites, but they're both interesting, namely Streets, which is the band's acclaimed Broadway-esque release.

Yeah, Streets was the root of Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Good album with some pretty dull fillers. Wake of Magellan is more than decent with Zachary Stevens leaving his mark. Btw, mates, if you like Criss Oliva you GOT to listen to Ghost in The Ruins, one of the best heavy metal live albums of all time. Legions live... bliss!

The metal world sorely misses guitarists such as Criss Oliva: explosive yet melodic and capable of very heavy riffs. He'd a sort a blend of the Van Halen and Iommi styles which was unique. Really loved his way of playing. One of my absolute favourites.

Agreed. He's not mentioned as often as he should, and the same goes for Savatage.

Was jamming Savatage today and realized that this one was released exactly 28 years ago. I think these guys could have recorded at least a couple more amazing albums even though Dead Winter Dead is brilliant.

I vividly remember the day I bought the CD and heard the opener for the first time. Such an amazing song.

I got Gutter Ballet through a radio show that broadcast full albums on weekends. I also remember the first time I listened to it hahah

Man, these guys are so underrated. Dead Winter Dead on a copied cassette was my gateway to their music and every time I jam the album it brings me so many memories.

Most definitely, these guys were always underrated back in the day, they never got the recognition they deserved. Even in my close circle of friends, only a couple of them liked the band.

Zak's high pitched vocals in the last part of ''He Carves His Stone'' are phenomenal.
