EoS is definitely next weakest imo as well, though a substantial upgrade from this. I'm still trying to nail down my feelings on Remission. Dont like it as much as I expected to. So that one might be next in line after EoS.
But yeah, aside from this, I'd gleefully spin any of their stuff any day

you have to approach these latest albums differently...the comparison to their more sludge/ prog metal phase is prob gonna get to those ratings ranges...this album is far from an average alt/rock/metal album. It's far more commercial, yet with great tracks.

I agree. Some of the riffs on here are stellar. And you don't get boring, excessively self-indulgent shit like The Czar.

Nice that track is way better than everything on the standard edition, bar Stargasm. If everything was around as good as those two this would probably land at a 3.5 for me.

This a pretty solid album really, just took time to grow because it was such a step down and substantial change in style following CtS. Bedazzled Fingernails is one of my fav Mastodon songs.
Fuck you all re EoS. It’s a great album. Mastodon’s third best. Roots Remain, Ancient Kingdom, Clandestiny, Sultan’s Curse, Steambreather — all top tier Mastodon songs.

Also, yes, EoS is the best of the last three albums.
