on "Canis Major" now. Damn, wasn't expecting it to be this good. The vocals aren't extraordinary but they definitely don't detract from the music. And really feeling a strong BoO and The Contortionist influence.

The Contortionist majorly benefitted from cleans. So did BoO. And Volumes.

glad you really like the album man! eh the cleans ruined exoplanet for me personally, that's why i prefer this this record. there's no need for bands like substructure to force in cleans just because they have an experimental style.

I personally love the cleans from Exoplanet. And I wasn't saying they should "force" them, but it'd be cool to experiment with it. But anyway, I like that vocoder-ish effect on Canis Major.

This sounds like exoplanet pt 2. I heard a few songs. Not my type of thing.

I have to agree with, bringthejunz. It added a lot of nice variety, and complimented the softer atmosphere perfectly. I think Substructure would only benefit from some well-placed cleans, just every so often.
This has some odd production, but I really dig it. Great album.

I like the cleans on Exoplanet. This band does have a similar style to TC, but they are definitely just as good - if not better.

SmokingTheClouds, what's odd about the production? i think it's soo amazing for a band like this. so crystal clear, Cassiopeia's opening is just perfect. and then that breakdown at 1:28 on canis minor that just drills into your brain
bringthejunz, i agree the vocoder part was cool and unexpected. cleans though, idk. i'm not exactly sure if that would fit their style. maybe if they were done very well and used sparingly

I think Exoplanet was just a tad bit more cohesive than this. More memorable parts if you ask me.
