Fight Fire with Fire is great and Escape is decent but the tracks between them is one of the best 4-song stretches of 'Tallica ever

Agreed hard bell fade and trapped is a decent stretch but FFWF and t/t are JUST average, ktulu is not good and escape is bad.
imo.

Ktulu rules and ffwf is great but battery and trapped are better

Fight Fire With Fire and the title track are easily two of the best songs on here.
Also Ktulu > Orion

I've always considered Trapped to be one of their worst songs from the 80's era. only Escape and Eye of The Beholder are worse probably. still great tracks though

Fight Fire With Fire and the title track are easily two of the best songs on here.
Also Ktulu > Orion [2]. Master of Puppets may be awesome, but it is sort of like a wannabe Ride the Lightning. Still a fantastic choice to use as a blueprint.

dude what

I'm just saying Master of Puppets is a slightly less awesome version of Ride the Lightning, though so
many would probably say the opposite considering the reputation of Puppets.

Master is really different from this other than the typical 'Tallica repeats like track 1 being fast, track 2 being the t/t, 3rd track being slow and heavy etc.

Both RtL and MoP are classics for me. The similarities may be there in terms of content and structure as Talons noted but that doesn't take away anything from Puppets. Songwriting is on very high level on both albums.

It's certainly close, though both are definitely their best instrumentals
