I know the original versions, I've heard them quite a few times.

While I do enjoy them, (not just a fan of newer Anathema, The Silent Enigma is a masterpiece for example), I still love it how they managed to shake some life into these songs, and make something new and wonderful out of it.

The original versions of Sleep in Sanity or The Crestfallen were way more lifeless and boring man.

A wild Noctus appears!

Noctus uses low rating...

It's super effective!

Average rating suffers fatal damage and drops down

Wild Noctus is happy!

I'll agree that Sunset of Age is better on The Silent Enigma, even though this version ain't bad, just different.

For the rest however, I very much prefer these versions over the originals, even though they ain't bad either.

How dare you call Serenades mediocre, I bet you know absolutely nothing about doom at all

If you say that A Fine Day to Exit was mediocre, then that clearly says it all really. Fantastic album, and just as good as A Natural Disaster, Judgement, Alternative 4 and WHBWH.

As for what Baseline just wrote, "cheesiness"? really?

You must have stopped following Anathema in 1995, because this is how they have been sounding for 16 years now, and grats to you for being kvlt enough to like Serenades, which is an album destroyed by horrible vocals and bad production.
