I love 'Next' the most, but there are great tracks on every album they've made.

Another great review! Anytime I click on an Ipodmastery review, I expect and am greeted with consistently great things. As for this album, it's personally a 3.5 for me because of the sheer catchiness of some of the songs (notably the chorus to Karma) and, if I do recall correctly, a rather nice solo in The End is Coming. But I have to agree with you, that the consistency is part of the reason the rating isn't higher. I would just like to hear something a little different. Maybe that's why Next is my favorite; seemed so diverse at the time.

Seasons is their best (Lowery era) and this album feels like it continued on from Seasons, with maybe a slight backward step due to this being Lowery's 1st album back in the band (which is understandable as the bands needs to gel together again, so some of the momentum they had with Seasons may have been lost), but hopefully this means bigger things from the next release.

I was slightly disappointed with this album, however, since they are still my favorite band after all these years, I still enjoyed it. Splinter is a great song. Nothing will ever compare to Animosity, in my opinion.

Alright, I've got a bit of time on my hands so I'll give this a closer look:

Cold Day Memory is a very solid release from solid song writers.

Combining intelligent song writing ability

"Songwriter" and "songwriting" should be one word.
For the most part this sets the theme for the rest of the album with most of the other tracks following this theme.

Redundant, end the sentence at "rest of the album".
Sevendust play it too safe over the length of the album and doesn’t push for the heights in any of their tracks.

*don't
They know it, their listeners know it and it shows in their music, though it cannot be helped but to think what would happen if they tried for that something different and push for that higher level.

This is a very awkward sentence that doesn't make a lot of grammatical sense. I would suggest rephrasing it like this:
They know it, their listeners know it, and it shows in their music, but one can't help but wonder what heights they might reach if they tried something different.
Cold Day Memory displays much of Sevendust’s quality as an alternative metal group and higher level of consistency.

Again, this is an awkward sentence, try this:
Cold Day Memory displays Sevendust's consistent quality as an alternative metal group.
cosy mould

*cozy mold

Overall the content of the review is good, you just seem to have a couple of grammar struggles here and there. From what I've seen of your reviews you definitely seem to be improving, so keep it up.

Cheers ties, funnily enough, cozy and mold came up as an error in my spellchecker, it also doesn't like it when i combine "Songwriter" and "songwriting"

They know it, their listeners know it.... this does sound better in your phrasing will edit.

Cheers Ties, don't worry mate i'll earn my place in Sputnik's top 100 lol. Site rankings changed don't see how i could possibly be ranked higher than most users, but that's what it is now.

Not as many people write 50+ reviews as you'd think. I'm close to cracking the top 100 myself, I just haven't been inspired to write as much recently.

I keep getting told the rankings don't mean much. But if they keep updating regulary, maybe they'll start to.

This has some of Sevendust's best tracks, plus guitar work. You can INSTANTLY hear Clint's influence on their sound, and makes Next (Even though I love that album for what it is) look like fodder.
