Meshuggah is groundbreaking.. they hadn't perfected their technique for the 8-string guitars yet on this album IMO compared to Catch-33 or I, which is why I gave it a 4.. Some later tracks in this album I find boring, but songs like Rational Gaze, Perpetual Black Second, and Closed Eye Visual are amazing

This is a very good album...definitely better than Catch 33.

I quite enjoy this album. I must admit though, the last song, Obsidian is a rather confusing and lame ending to such a ballsy album.

Best tracks, I reckon: Stengah, Closed Eye Visuals, Glints Collide

this album is way slower and heavyer than thier past efforts and i like it, but i think if they had sped up a little on a few songs it would have made for a more interesting album

Meh, I think this is much more progressive and interesting than their past efforts. I felt that they got a little to pretentious with Catch 33 though... Nothing is the perfect blend of experimentation and thrash, imo.

I love the cover art!

Although Nothing is kinda repetitive, but that happens alot with bands that possess such a unique sound.

Favourite track would have to be Closed Eye Visuals by far

I think this album is fucking awesome. So groovy... so badass.

If album were a novel/film, it'd be The Stranger/Memento.

This is a really damn good album. I just listened to it again, and I'm in love. It's more intelligent than Destroy Erase Improve IMO... any band that can slow down to such a pace and still hypnotize somebody with complex polyrhythms deserves recognition.

Loved this album.....while overralll my favorite meshuggah song is Future Breed Machine off of DEI, Stengah and Rational Gaze come close. To me, on this album the guys in Meshuggah completely erased any preconceptions about how metal (or music in general, for that matter) should be played and it symbolizes the epitome of the Meshuggah sound and style; very thick, INCREDIBLY rhythmically complex, dark, kinda crazy, with Jens' signature vocals which if you ask me are top-shelf. If you ask me Meshuggah's one of the most original metal or prog bands EVER and this will be their most underappreciated/misunderstood album....

obsidian does have a point. the whole album is about a group of travelers coming across an event horizon (black hole) and the effect it has on the mind and body. obsidian is based on the theory that some have that if you fell into a black hole that you would fall forever, your body stretched out by the gravitational forces for an eternity. so obsidian is that repeating, never ending doom.

i didn't realize tell i read the lyrics what the album was about. than obsidian made way more sense.

I've listened to some songs from this band/album. I think the music is pretty cool, but the vocals I thought were horrible.

One of my favorite Meshuggah albums and one of the two I actually own. (Other being DEI)

The opening song has one of the coolest leads in it (The tapping guitar part)

Just a question DirtyS4nch3z, why don't you rate anything?

I dunno, it just stopped making sense after awhile and I thought my genre's were a bit off. Oh well, maybe I'll get back to it sometime again.
