Anyone who makes music should go into it when they genuinely enjoy making it, simple as that. As much as I oppose talent shows for being completely shallow and ignorant of anything that hasn't been or couldn't be a big hit ('Our two contestants are going to be singing A HEAVY ROCK SONG together this time: I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing by Aerosmith!'), contestants are often not the ones to blame.

Review comes off as a bit too ranty, but it really made me see where you're coming from mate - pos.

he's so darn cute

oh hey you're welsh?
McElderry is a geordie mate, not Welsh, I'm offended
I watch the x-factor, clearly not to get into new music, but because it's kind of entertaining and there are some really good singers on there (though they inevitably get culled due to not having the 'likeability' factor).
This guy should be in the west end though, I really don't see who would buy this drivel

Of course but I'm probably seeing it in Joe's perspective; that he gets to do something he has always wanted, which is to be a pop artist.
The problem is that too many people nowadays want to be pop artists just because pop artists are famous. A love of music (and good music) is more than just the knowledge that you have an above-average voice and some 'celeb appeal'.

There aren't that many good singers, they fiddle with their voices
|

Nah man they stopped doing that
