IRVING - That was an okay vid. Something about seeing Asian guys dressed as thugs with their pants sagging and gold teeth is a serious disconnect for me, though, lol.
However, I went and watched a bunch of Slapshock vids and was pleasantly surprised =) Thank you.

Haha, fair enough! Hope you keep enjoying the South East Asian flavour, Madapaka! =)

I think this site superbly underestimates how good this album is. It's so good.

I think it's lack of exposure. Truly, there are many other reasons, but I'm guessing that's the biggest one. Well, that and the fact that mainstream American radio, media, and music promoters aren't exactly pushing this kind of thing. If it ain't talking about killing somebody, fucking bitches, or making money, it seems not to get noticed.
I'm probably making a broad generalization, but it sure seems that way.
I even reviewed all three of Lhasa de Sela's albums on here because nobody else had even put her in the database. Blew my mind that folks know about Zee Avi but not Lhasa. Too much junk gets shoved into peoples' ears because it's part of a scene, while tons of fantastic music goes unnoticed.
Sigh.

Maybe it's just me, but I do believe youy have to be in the right mood to listen to this sophomore effort from Zee Avi. I love her first album and all of her other songs on youtube that did not make it into the album, but this second album is even more niche (very Brushfire-esque) than the first one. My first listening, I stopped at Siboh Kitak Nangis. Probably because I was sleepy at that time. I'll try to give d album another spin.
Anyway hi Irving, salam dari Damansara! :p
