I was watching some Amoeba What's In My Bag episodes and a member of Power Trip picked it, and how he described it made me go "hmm" so I put it on and said "what da" cuz I wasn't expecting it.

A Northern Soul is the definitive album. Classic.

Woah; despite being a fan of Urban Hymns, I had never checked this out before, and now I'm blown away by it.
Production is great; such great guitar tones to get lost in; and love how the bass pops up in the mix (listening to the 2016 remaster that's available on Spotify, don't know how's or if it's any different from the original master).
Will check out A Northern Soul later as well

I never really liked Urban Hymns, but once I heard this, I got hooked to early-Verve. Needless to say, their EPs from this era are also mesmerizing.

yes! self titled is almost as good as this, maybe even more psychedelic.
A Northern Soul is really nice, but I'm not a huge fan of the second half
