I'm probably one of the biggest Norma Jean fans around and I would never tell you that they "annihilate" Botch. At most, they've been non-comparable for a good ten years and even O' God is pretty aesthetically and technically removed from any of Botch's work.

In regards to the Norma Jean comment by one of Botch's members, according to the review for the dvd/album on this site (I haven't seen it) Brian Cook, the bassist, said "I love this Norma Jean song" while the band was watching the filming of the final show

As much as I love Norma Jean, Botch is easily the better band

I'd really like to watch the DVD. Also, I think this album gets bashed a bit too much for sounding like Botch. Or at least it used to, seems like the band has finally garnered the respect they've always deserved over the years.

still don't get the botch comparisons for bless the martyr. this kinda sounds like botch but it's nowhere near a rip off or anything

this ain't a rip off but still fairly derivative imo. bless the martyr gets too much botch comparisons agreed even though botch obviously influenced that album too

People were pulling the Botch card until like three years ago, probably just out of ignorance. O' God was the only thing that sounded remotely like them and even then it wasn't as much as a lot of people say. I'd say the track that sounds most like Botch is Pretendeavor because of the sick hammer-on riff the track is based around. But songs like Shaunluu, Disconnecktie, Liarscenic, Bayonetwork, Charactarantula...none of them really remind me of Botch at all
