Seems that way. I did have an awful, samey pop punk phase though. Can't deny it

Everyone should once in their life... Preferably right in the middle of a scorching summer.

Those were the days. We can never go back... *stares wistfully out the window*

Pelting down with rain... in the middle of winter here.

Well that totally ruins the imagery of the moment I just imagined us sharing.

@DaveyBoy, it's just that if I want catchy-ness I can just as easily go put on Your Favorite Weapon, Reach For The Sun, Real Talk, or Road Maps and Heart Attacks and not be hearing music that sounds appropriate for a 12yo girls birthday party. Meh, maybe that's just me though. There's a very thin line between shit pop-punk and good pop-punk. Probably because most of it is shit.

Totally understand Forbes. There are indeed much better "catchier" options. But hey, you never know when a band will surprise.

Checked these out recently, quite enjoyed their old singles Chelsea, and the one thats something like The Guys You Do.
However, listening to this, they seem to be suffering the same fate as alot of pop-punk (The Maine, We The Kings) in become more mainstream and lighter to catch a bigger audience. The difference between all these and the only one of those to do so succesfully, All Time Low, is that All Time Low waited until they had a big enough following instead of doing it after one fairly good album.
Having said that, All Time Low aren't doing it very successfully at all, as they have actually lost radio play, fans, interest and so on since Dirty Work dropped. They went from a massive band over here to a band no one really listens to much or talks about. Maybe other bands can learn from this?

Yeah, they are probably their 2 best songs full stop.
Good comparisons also & I agree that it would be best for these younger bands to make that mover after 3-4 albums, not 1-2.

@DaveyBoy, very true. I guess I was sort of turned off to begin with when I read an interview with the lead singer in AP
about how he co-writes and how be thinks co-writing songs is a good thing. lol.

Never really thought about it that deeply tbh. I guess there is some advantages to co-writing & you can always learn from others. The band is still young, so I wouldn't be full on against it. But there comes a time when you have to find your voice, so I guess the more important factor is what are his thoughts moving forward.

Begin Again wouldn't be too bad, if it wasn't for his whiny voice.

Somehow I think he may be stuck with that.

Having said that, About a Girl is starting to be a guilty pleasure.
Still, doesn't change the fact the album sounds like they forgot to plug their guitars in when recording.

You don't like 'Mannequin'?
|

I dunno, it's a little more generic to me. Plus, I can't help but imagine the video for that video would literally be about some creepy guy's paraphilia towards a shop window dummy...

video for that song*

Haha. And they could get Kim Cattrall to play the mannequin.

Perhaps, but most mannequins are plastic, whereas she's more wooden.
