Who negged this? This is even better than my review, I can't understand how this would be a "bad review". The opinion is based on the band's previous work, there is evidence of effort, and I can see no real "misses" here.

I really dig this band's asian spin on symphonic black metal. It might be a slight gimmick but its cool to hear.
This is their highest rated album on RYM by a decent amount too, so Im surprised by the lower ratings here and the overt praise for Seediq Bale. I like this a little better as of now actually too. Ill have to listen to Seediq Bale again though. I just think this album is about as "fun" as black metal gets while also maintaining an original edge with the whole Taiwanese folk thing.

Another good album, but it seems that the band are focussing much more on making everything sound grandiose and heavy instead of really utilizing their folk instrumentation to make their sound unique. Nevertheless, it still works on most songs, as on 'Oceanquake' and 'Mahakala'.

Not a disappointment at all. A 4 for me, but just barely. But yeah this is still really good. I think the Taiwanese version of Takao was waaaay better though.

Just listening for the first time and seriously digging it. Though I'm new to Chthonic so if it gets better I'm excited to hear it.
