Loved every conceivable aspect of this album except for one thing:

Bright Bulbs and Sharp Tools' demo was absoloutley perfect.

What we got as a final product was awful, and that track, as a result, can rot in hell.

That said, pretty much every other song was just friggin' phenomenal.

Top 3 off the album would have to be: Coppertank Island, Uh Oh, and a toss up between Amarillo and Greener Grass.

I just realized John pulled a fast one on us. I'm glad though that this is his real rating.

I don't get the Tool comparison entirely. I think soundwise it's very close to Karnivool's Themata.

"Amarillo Sleeps on my Pillow" is easily my favorite on this. It's a great sound for them.

They really could've left off those last 3 minutes of The Greener Grass. The way it fades out before that would have been so much better. And that brings me back to the first track. Is there anyone who wants to listen to church music before a prog rock album? Doesn't seem like a concept/theme album, so I don't get it.

rest is good

But aren't you? Lol, I kid ;D

At points I kind of hate how typical this all sounds and "Rikki Tikki Tavi" is the worst thing ever, but overall I find the album rather enjoyable. Not as creative and whole feeling as Fables... though. My favorite song, after 3 full listens now, remains "Whiskey & Ritalin." Much like my gripe with the album, this song follows that whole typical alternative rock formula of verse/chorus/verse/chorus/bridge/chorus, but the chorus itself is so infectious and fun. I love the way the piano rolls along with the vocals, almost has a nostalgic feel to it, to me.
