Trap Them and RS are plenty metal unless you honestly think grindcore is exclusively a punk subgenre in which case you're an idiot.
My point in general is that a) if you (as in anyone) don't like the new Autopsy you can either man the fuck up or stop listening to death metal, and b) this year is perfectly fine for metal.

So far the only two "metal" albums worth anything this year are Deafheaven, Loss, and Ulcerate. Gorguts has me excited and so do Arghoslent. Hopefully they can salvage what has been a pretty meh year.

haha i forgot that came out this year. it's worn off me a lot. still good but yeah. metal for me now is mood music, not general listening. that's why it took me so long to write this. ive had this since like the end of april but was just waiting for the right mood so i could give it an honest go. when my "metal" moods came around it just never did much for me. i still love the genre to death but its no longer something that i actively seek out 24/7 like i used to.
