Haven't even listened to In Times Before the Light. How does it compare to this one in terms of approach and sound?

It's pretty sweet, just a little more amateurish with worse production. Worth a listen for sure, but this is way better.

haha yeah, it's Lord of the Rings and atmospheric metal, how can you go wrong with that? It's going to be good at the very least. And these dudes are quite prolific.

Chariots of Thunder with that classic sci-fi dark metal groove.

Just saw Annihilation, which is an excellent depiction of 'a precious mingling of the flesh and alien fire'.

In Times Before the Light is way better than this. It has an unrivaled atmosphere that is rare to find in black metal. Really engrosses you where as this is like a carnival circus.

The atmosphere on this is way, way better imo. Times is sweet but it's def not a top tier second wave Norwegian bm album.

You must be wrong spado. Nothing can be way better than 5. It's just logic. And you haven't rated a single Arcturus album.

Also yall please see Annihilation, so I'm not alone with my observations.

Fuck yeah. Blast from the past. There's still not another album that has the same sound and vibe as this album. Too bad they shit the bed with the later albums... although the industrial remake of their debut is kind of an improvement.

Then again, I like these unique albums that make it feel like they were seized by otherworldy inspiration for just one time.

Also see Annihilation. I'm gonna say this until someone agrees this should be the soundtrack.
