I'm glad you got over that particular speedbumb. The instrumentation itself is pretty interesting on here.

Nice review bro. Pos'd. I will probably check this out tommorow sometime. The high vocals always annoyed me.

Focus on the instrumentation before absorbing it all in one go.

Hopefully it isn't a let down when I listen to it. I will more than likely enjoy it.

I'm surprised one of the Contrib's or Irving hasn't jumped on this review and critiqued it. Hope i'm not speaking too soon.Lol

First two paragraphs seem kinda wordy and awkward to read at times. Sorry it isn't really a specific critique but I'm kinda tired right now. Still, overall it's good stuff so I'll pos it.

Haven't listened to this yet and I'm not sure if I'll even bother.

Fantastic review. I found out from Deviant. on an Incubus review that albums with official streams are allowed to be reviewed early by users. Only reviews based on leaks are taken down.

Anyway, pos'd. Yet another great review, iPod.

So streams = good.

Leaks = bad. Gotcha.

Thanks Dimsim. And thanks for looking that up for me.

The Michigan five-piece are at it again, it’s still The Black Dahlia Murder as listeners can expect but there is something different here in ‘Ritual’s’ overall design.

I would just put a period at "again" and then a comma after "expect".

this in-turn allows

I don't think this needs a hyphen.

As far as death metal records go this is everything listeners can expect. Ritual is full of energy and thick of texture.

These are pretty choppy to read through. I would maybe write them together like: "As far as death metal records go, this is everything listeners can expect, as Ritual is full of energy and think with texture."

With a steady flow of blast beats and double bass work peppered with a tasteful fill provides the listener with a lot to take in.

The beginning and end of this sentence are somewhat incongruent. I would either remove the first "with" or rewrite the sentence.

not to mention maintains the listeners’ attention over a longer period of time over the length of the record.

I try not to repeat words like those two "over"s. Maybe switch the second one to "throughout" or something similar.

Overall a pretty decent review, though. I shall pos.

As an aside, is English your first language?

Good review, I love this album. Blood In The Ink is a sick track.

Solid review, great detail. Haven't heard much from this band. Kinda like what ShinX said, keep striving to find that easier, natural flow to your sentences.

Emim, yes English is my first language. I just have no writing classes or anything of that venacular.

Thanks Kangappoo.

This reads really awkwardly, something you don't want at the beginning of the review. You have similarly awkward sentences throughout the review, so I would suggest leaving your review for a good 24 hours after you write it, and then proofreading it. You will be able to spot awkwardness such as this much easier. Another tip is to read this aloud, as if you were making a speech. And don't be afraid to use punctuation. This sentence could easily work with a well placed hyphen or a semi-colon

e.g. The Michigan five-piece are at it again - it's still the Black Dahlia Murder as you would expect, but there is something different in Ritual's overall design.

Essentially this is an album that shows the bands consistent

*band's

Errors like this are easy to make but are unforgivable. If you did that on a uni paper, you would be destroyed.

Using the same producer (Mark Lewis) as they used on their previous record ‘Deflorate’ allows a more easy going recording process, this in-turn allows for more focus for each member in the studio and the end result is a cohesive and focused album.

Do not be afraid to use commas, and be very afraid of having run-on sentences. If you put a comma after 'previous record' the sentence would flow better. The part that begins with this in-turn should be a new sentence. Two small things - 'easygoing' is one word, and 'in turn' is two.

As far as death metal records go this is everything listeners can expect.

Vary your language. You've used the phrase regarding the album being what 'listeners can expect' already. And this isn't really good description. What do the listeners expect? Try not to be presumptious, and be more direct in your explanation.

Positively the man behind the cymbals Shannon Lucas knows when to both lift the intensity and when required drop it back a notch.

Positively? I can't even figure out why that word is there. Again, commas - 'Shannon Lucas, the man behind the cymbals, knows when to both lift the intensity, and when required, drop it back a notch.' Even this sentence feels a bit convoluted, so keep it simplistic until you can properly punctuate longer and more complex sentences.

The vocal work of front man Trevor Strnad presents the listener with mid to high range screams coupled with deep growls adding some diversity to the album and explores the bands tone colour in a wider manner, not to mention maintains the listeners’ attention over a longer period of time over the length of the record.

There's nothing wrong with having a sentence this long, but please, use some punctuation. Break it up.

I won't go into criticism of the rest of the review because it's mainly the same thing. Try to lose the awkwardness in your writing. I think it's mainly because you don't use punctuation like you should and write in a stream of thought. Always make sure to go over your review before posting it, read it aloud or whatever.

Edit: just realised some of the things I mentioned may have already been brought up before, my bad.
