That same-ish breakdown and chorus grows so stale after repeated listens.
|
| |
the best thing they can do from here is split from rise, cos i can hear the potential and rise is just
going to hold them back

Is this named after ADTR lyics? "I had the greatest faith in fools, I turned my back and out came the wolves".
|
| |
Yeah, but that's beside the point.
|
| |
I'm listening to this right now and it's making a good first impression.

It really does, but the breakdowns just feel forced a lot of the time. A great verse and riff will
just abruptly end with a triplet style mosh bit.
I feel like they are named after the song "The Air That I Breathe" by All that Remains but I am
unsure. Also, the songs off the EP sounded WAY better on the EP. I feel like they dumbed it down a
bit.
|
| |
Yeah, I'm sure they got their name from the All That Remains song.
I haven't really listened to the EP even though I have it in my itunes. I enjoy this though. It's probably a 3-3.5

I like the metaphor, but you took it too far. I say this respectfully of course. I liked the use of the metaphor, but the for the WHOLE review? Tone it down a bit, add in more informative opinions and this would have been a really well done review. However the metaphor was taken far too largely.

Thanks for the input. I figured it would come across as obnoxious and overplayed to most people.
And I agree completely; this was kind of a tongue-in-cheek joke review.

Oh wow, The Word Alive already have a new album out?
Deceiver is their latest, the only thing I know of them doing recently is re-releasing that with a few new songs and all that nice extra jazz we don't really need.

LOL that went right over your head

The metaphors are meh. Just do what most do and say guitars, drums etc instead of fucking garlic and tomato sauce! It's a fucking album review not a food review!

Agreed. The more I read this review the less I like it, but I'll keep it the way it is because I still have the same feelings.

That was the greatest, and largest metaphor for the recipe to a good album I think I've ever seen. The only reason someone wouldn't understand this is because they have looked over the fact that it was indeed supposed to clever in it's metaphoric nature. I was confused reading the first sentence but, I'd have to agree with you on your review, after realizing what you were attempting lol.... I would only give it a 4.0 for effort .. Maybe they'll branch their sound out .. "stop adding so much garlic" ... Like my Dad says about dinner every night .. .. it fills the void ...

I don't care how unimpressive this album is, I'm still enjoying it more than I should right now.
Also, last track - niiiice.

I remember this one time I was twelve and I wrote lyrics. They were better than the lyrics on this album. PS: The vocals are lol worthy live.
