This is a pretty damn strong record. It does take a bit of a spill after the first few songs but really the only song I have legitimate beef with is "Outta My System", lamest lyrics ever. Slow Slow Tune also sounds like a muddled At Dawn b-side, but it is a great album, can't say better or worse than Evil Urges which scares me since I agree with that albums inconsistencies as well

I loved "It Still Moves", but nothing else I've heard by these guys really grabbed me at all. Going to go listen to Z a couple more times and see if I still think it sounds like dick before I try this one I think.
Excellent review though

Even though they sound nothing alike, my feelings for this are similar to those of Evil Urges. There are some real standouts but the overall consistency is lacking.

I don't think I like this band enough to give this album a chance, Z is all I've liked from them.
But I have a friend who I know will force me to listen to this so get ready for a 2.5 or 3 or something to pop up above this post in a few days
(coming up with opinions before observing the evidence, ftw)

I don't get all of the hate for Evil Urges. To me that album was way more of a MMJ album than the new one. Instead of incorporating original styles into Circuital (like they did with Evil Urges) they end up rehashing old ideas that have already been done millions of times by other bands. In the end it just left me wondering, Where are all of the hard hitting Alt-Country Jams or the Reggae influenced Psychedelic bits? It just seemed like a MMJ rip off of various styles instead of a melding of wonderful sounds.

Great review. I'm disappointed to hear that this was disappointing.

this album is a grower not a show-er. im liking it 4.0 out of 5. and wtf is with the hate on EU? its one of my all time favs. i think a lot of the hate comes from lets say the frat oriented fans.

look at the albums the negative posters like. its a lot of obscure hipster shiz

Hey adl, you may not be aware of this but not only do i not get paid to be a reviewer but we generally don't get promotional CDs as staff members. did i review a leak? yes. did the leak have one song cut off? yes. did i think it was weird? yes. does it speak to what i already thought of this album that i thought it just might have been possible? unfortunately, a minute and a half of a song wasn't enough to change my opinion of this disappointing record. and it was 320 kbps so im not sure how much higher the sound quality could have been.
