Oh...ermm..them guyz suck a bag of std-ridden !@#$s. I mean - he like use dem word and like them all same words, like i havnt herd da first teym.
I think you mistake being snotty and condescending (that's what happens, when something irks me - ok with that) with pretentious.
There's a difference between putting forward an argument and supporting it in clear linguistic terms, and rambling on an artistic and literary movement, which are obscure to most people, without supporting the ideas with explanation, and trying to make them as esoteric as they come.
Sorry, for being bookish. It's hereditary, when learning a language from books. Then again - cultivating it and admiring the language (to my own ends) and treating the users as the intelligent people they are is not something that you should fault me for.
Tell me at least you didn't fall for his new-wave-esque, jumbled rhetoric.
You must be smarter than that - I'm sure of it.

I learned it reading maths and physics textbooks. That's the reason for me sounding all funny and uptight. I'll try and brush my style up.

I like this guy.
There's no reason to reject intelligent, academic discourse from metal, just because HHH decided to appoint himself as the light-bearing scholar to bring his Ivy League education to the black-clad, unwashed masses.
|

No, but in this case it's half-assed and self-righteous. And the music just sucks.

Yeah, I agree completely, but my bigger issue with HHH is that in doing so, he's probably turned even more people in metal scenes off from thinking about black metal academically, which is unfortunate, to say the least.
Never going to forgive them for scoring an opening gig for Boris, of all the fucking bands in NYC.

Yeah these dudes are fucking ridiculous. As both people and musicians.

I'm not really sure music should be approached "academically".

I like where ks1 is going, but uh... dude, you're falling prey to the jumbled rhetoric you condemn. Probably an artifact of learning English as a secondary language, though, and I don't fault you for it. Your ideas certainly seem good enough.
Anyway, I'm spending January academically engaging black metal, so it better not be a worthless cause. HHH just managed to blunder the very first attempt... (Although there have been those "Black Theory" symposiums which are, in my opinion, utter bullshit - even worse than HHH's 'manifesto')

Ah, you were referring to his writings and not the actual music. My mistake.

No, I was definitely referring to the music. I think all art forms merit intellectual survey, music especially. Why do you disagree?
|

I meant Vesper.
