I gotta disagree with your take on Kids Ars I think the chorus is what makes it, that synth melody is mostly just supplementary to that

@sowing yeah they are, mgmt and hot chip have nostalgia factor for me though. i did have a lot of fun in high school. this came a bit after so it was just unbearably reminiscent of those sounds while precluding any necessary sentimental attachment for a retrospective fondness. more of an unwelcome imposter, unwilling to allow me to escape the past at a time when all i wanted to do was move on from high school lol.

He's awesome yeah. His new album was kind of trash though. I'd say MGMT > Borns > FtP going by full discography, although Dopamine, Oracular Spectacular, and Torches are all grade A indie pop by my estimation.

idk all I know is I had this BORNS song stuck in my head and I couldn’t find it for half a year because I thought it was a modern Robert Plant song or something. then I found it, it was “faded heart.” average ass song, but I liked the vocal effects in the chorus.

See MGMT is the one with the traumatic overplay factor for me since I played in a band for a little while that would do the most unbearable slowed-down indie girl cover version of "Electric Feel"

IDK why listen to any of them when you can listen to like Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer? though

Which is those, but slightly weirder, way gayer, and 1000x musically more awesome

Electric Feel definitely was forcibly overplayed for me too but sans the trauma fortunately.

Electric Feel is one of the two songs from OS I actually like hmmmm slowed down version sounds strange though... are they trying to make a goofy song about sex serious?????
