I feel bad for saying this, because you have obviously put a lot of effort into this review, but you are looking WAY too far into it. You're making Gaga out to be something she's not.
Was too lazy to get back to you yesterday. The main reason I treated the album this way is because GaGa has always struck me as a legitimate and savvy pop performer. When she put out The Fame, you could tell she knew she was writing junk music but what made it interesting was the tug-and-pull between her creative, more expansive self and the restrictions of the pop she wrote. Also, her live performances showed enthusiasm for the material and the way she referenced pop without ever making it feel dull or passe, just indicated to me that she knew what she was doing.
Then, yesterday, when I heard Judas and read on the controversy surrounding the song, I was hooked. This was precisely what I wanted GaGa to make. It felt more like a re-invention of herself and the state of pop music than everything else. The album just seemed to solidify this perspective. All in all, I just feel like there's more to GaGa than what the public generally perceives and to what she was trying to do in this album. Just explaining why I wrote what I wrote.

your name is napalm death and you gave this a 4.5
I was wondering when that'd come up. As much as I love extreme metal, I've never felt like that should define what I can and cannot like or inhibit my ability to recognize good or challenging music when it's made. To be honest, a number of the songs on the album are very much out of my comfort zone and at times too poppy for me, but I like to take in other factors into consideration too rather than my own biases and preferences. Feels fairer.

Ouch. I'm sorry I came off that way. I was honestly not trying to sound pretentious, it's just the style of writing I'm more comfortable with (and I know I need to work on my uber-long sentences). I'm wondering what tangents you're referring to, though. Any specific feedback on it is appreciated.
BTW, that sentence about "Remember our..." was more my way of tying in the intro to the rest of the review and to explain from what perspective the album was being analyzed. I can definitely see how it comes off as pompous though. Hm...I'll see if I can figure out something that works better.
Anyway, thanks for the compliments and telling me what you think.

Thanks everyone who likes my review and/or gives me feedback. Much appreciated.
| | | I apologize, tangents was the wrong world, but you do seem to expand on some things too much. The last three
paragraphs really stuck out for me, as most of it was retreaded ground, and it really would of been a more effective
conclusion if you would of compacted those statements into at least 2 graphs,
and there is nothing in this review to say "ouch" about, man, seriously it's really well done. and I am by no means
calling you a pretentious douche-bag. Sorry if I was a little too harsh. Keep in mind, this is all just my opinion, I am by
no means an authority on any of this.

Napalm, I don't really know how to say it, but I guess the groundbreaking nature of this album really scares out the listener a little on a first hearing. That's probably why history will judge Gaga better than anyone at our time, as much as time judged Madonna, David Bowie or even Cyndi Lauper (I know, I know, I still like her, though).
Anyway, it's not an excuse for misjudgement, and it's perfectly clear that Gaga makes a revolution of herself on this album. Se reached that point on stardom where she can give herself the luxury of trusting her own influence on the pop world. She was kind of subtle with this, even if "subtle" is not really the word for anything Gaga-ish. I still think its authenticity is the best quality in the album.
I'm sorry if I didn't make myself clear, I'm actually a big fan of hers, but I still have some difficulties with English, is not my primary language. (I'm brazilian). Anyway, it's really great to discuss with people willing to ague with poise, if you know what I mean. ;p

tl;dr. dear lord. Idk how anybody could talk about gaga this long. She's fake, more gimmicky than slipknot, and entirely unoriginal.

| | | A single review, therefore measured by the sum of it's parts. Redundancy is a terrible thing and so is using words that you don't really understand the meaning of.
