not to rain on anyone's parade but i never understood why new grass is praised so highly among everyone. it's my least favorite track on laughing stock, and i've listened to the album a lot of times. i find taphead to be the high point on that album. but yeah w/e

taphead's my second favorite on laughing stock now which is cool cause it used to be my least

new grass is my first mainly due to 3:47 - that entire little setup they pull when the harmonica
comes in out of left field after the piano. the first time i heard that i was pretty much done lol,
just feels so incredibly placed.. almost like nothing else they could do in that tiny few seconds
would have been better

i've listened to the album a lot as well, since the age of like late fourteen and im nineteen now so
im guessing easily over three hundred times. it was my favorite for a very long time but eden
surpassed it when i decided to check it out last year, didn't even know another talk talk album
existed up to that point lol

new grass for me just has this unique charm of lightness to it, feels so clear and bright. always
makes me visualize a sun shower or something accompanied with water. like lots of rays of light
striking in from different directions, especially near the end of the song when they repeatedly
stroke over and over again. i love the peaceful yet somewhat energetic mood of the song as well, the
drums drive it forward at the perfect pace for the rest of the instruments to do whatever they
please - the whole song just feels so open to any idea and the musicians fill the space perfectly

there's a lot more personal stuff but that's the gist, i'm not about to write a comment review on it
lol

Claudio i will fight u (although i think Myrrhman is my favourite). New Grass is everything ethixx says it is and more, so delicate it feels as though it could dissipate into the air at any moment and yet so present and intimate that the song might as well be seeping off the walls.

Also does anyone know if this got a vinyl issue? I reckon the format would do the negative space justice handsomely

Also: sometimes i think aceghd should be the closer on this because in a way it's a release of all the tension and the closer proper savours of a (beautiful!) anti-climax :O
