Whats the arugement with the three power chord thing? The Clash did it but I don't hear people bitching about their musicianship. The three power chord thing is in almost every punk band but everyone oddly enough everyone attacks Green Day. The musicianship is actually quite fine. The choice of chords and the harmonies are carefully chosen and work for what they're doing. You don't have to solo in every song to be good musicians.

Great review! I agree with you 100%! Their live show is AMAZING!

Just one correction..it's Billie Joe, not Billy Joe

cheeto t--i know thousands of bands do the 3 chord thing. the point is-read the first few paragraphs where he praises the individ musicians. "amazing guitarist" comes to mind. sure he can rock out the 3 chords with the best but i havent heard a song by them that i would call amazing guitar work. and then the tre cool argument. i dont want to start it again but he is not one of the best drummers ever as the reviewer thinks. he plays pretty basic stuff. does a lot of fills but really that doesnt make a drummer good

My favorite drummers are pretty minimalistic; Charlie Watts, Tommy Ramone, Jeremiah Green, etc.

^^^yeah tommy ramone basically invented a whole new type of playing that VERY few people can play correctly. its not easy as most people think to play the constant 16th notes on the hihat for an hour long concert when all the songs are speeded up

A lot of people can do that, but Tommy's drum sound and how he played gave it a really good 'bounce' sound that adds a lot to their music.

Anyway, concerning this album: I don't think I'm ever going to purchase this, since I have seen them live before. The clips I have heard from this have been pretty dull, especially Billie's voice. When I saw them, they only played half of American Idiot which was pretty surprising considering how massive that album and it's new fanbase is.

Album Rating: 4.0

The Ramones really did speed through their songs when playing live. Rather enjoyable really.

At first, for about 10 minutes this was on my Christmas list, but I decided no chance did I really care for this.

I was mainly talking to Vhessiu, but the guitar work is fine. The solos may not be fast, but then again if they were, it would make the song even worse.

I have a feeling you don't really know what your talking about.

Im PRETTY sure you mean 8th notes, and while Tommy's stamina was a bit outgoing, it's really nothing special. Plus, the man's actual talent was quite poor.

But then again, he wasn't even a drummer before then.

My argument senses are tingling!

The melodies of Green Day songs are good, I agree with you. And Green Day has most certainly created quite a few good songs. But frankly, most of them get boring, and it's because they're not inventive, they're all played in relatively boring time signatures (and rarely do they ever change them mid-song) and the vocals aren't amazing enough to make up for it.
I agree
