I like this...though it's tilting on a 3 for me. =/
I'm not really a fan of the band overall. There is just nothing special about them that catches my
attention.

I do like their song writing; especially on Simple Math but when you collect it all together; I don't
like the deliverance of it all. Often comes across as banal.

'Correct'? I don't think there is one Chambered, buddy. =)
It's all opinions. Though I admit; it's fun when your rating matches the staff rating before it's made.

the songwriting and vigor on SM just isn't anywhere close to METN, though I think as a whole SM has a better, more well-developed sound...

Really? I liked the song writing much more on this. I never feel like he has all that much to say though and his lyricism; for me; sometimes draws a little shallow in his own, personal reflections.

Had to drop my rating on this as it's worn off a touch. Still a wicked album though

Yeah, same. I listened to it this afternoon and was not nearly as riveted as I was when I first heard the album. It's a fantastic album, it just wears a tad thin after a dozen or so listens. I still think this deserved at least a 6.5-6.9 on Pitchfork, and I thought the review was downright silly.

"In other words, a concept album about the experience of being Andy Hull, written by Andy Hull." That sentence alone is so dumb it gives me a migraine. Is this guy not familiar with the "concept" of autobiographical lyrics?

I was so into this album for about two weeks. I still like it, but haven't felt like listening to it in a few days. I don't know if I wore it out or if it wore me out.

Anyway I kind of think they maxed out their sound on this album...can't imagine their next album being better...I think they swung for the fences here but only hit it to the warning track, and just aren't capable of hitting a home run.

Leaky Breaks isn't supposed to go anywhere...I think it's a fitting closer to the flow of the rest of the album, and it's a pretty quick 7 minutes for me. And Virgin...yeah it's super polarizing but I've managed to keep liking it.

Whether or not this ends up getting bumped up to a 5 at some point is another thing entirely, but this has definitely been moving up on my Best Albums of 2011 list.

some good songs, but doesnt have the repeat factor or exciting shifts in melody within the songs such as as like METN.
