yeah, a lot of people are going to be bummed out that it isn't Hospice pt. 2 but it's really full of awesome songwriting and great tunes.

For some reason I think I might like this more than Hospice. For me, the hype sort of killed it as I caught it late. Good job on the review.

if i have one complaint with this it's that i wish corsicana was the closer, it would have been so
perfect. don't get me wrong putting the dog to sleep is a good closer but yeah

wasnt expecting another hospice but this is so average/boring on first listen so far. Will give it time though.

hospice was a record where even when the songwriting was lacking, the mood and lyrics always managed to lift it above that but with this, when it lulls, you can really feel it drag
good though

I feel the same way Kirgasm and the lack of a cohesive pop track is sort of bothersome for me too.

Never really feel any lulls in this album, but of course I have a considerable fetish for this band. The one thing that is really missing for me..(probably should of put this somewhere in my review) is that the whole just seems a little disjointed..I mean that was the beautiful thing about Hospice and Attic Of The Universe for that matter, was that they're both cohesive statements where the songs thrive off each other...This, you can jumble the songs up into whatever order you want and it probably wouldn't change a thing....
except for Putting The Dog To Sleep...you don't fuck with Putting The Dog To Sleep.

french exit?
loving this album (and review for that matter) to death, everything from no widows to the end is fantastic. it's tough to match hospice but i know i'll wind up listening to this way more because it's so much easier to just pick up and listen to.

Not as immediate of an impact as Hospice was to me, but I think this will grow.
|

Not as poppy as 'Two' or 'Bear' though.

hope this will grow

One of their tracks got best new music on Pitchfork, which is always a good sign.
I do want this to receive well from critics even though I didn't like it all that much. The Antlers are really nice guys.

It should do well on pitchfork...
It's right up that sites alley.

Never liked Hospice. Only heard one track so far but it seemed the same very well performed but dull sounding music. As someone suggested maybe the mood of their music appeals to people, but I still want a good melodic ideas.

starry, i didnt like Hospice (except Kettering) but I found this much better

Your comparisons with Enteral Sunshine made this fantastically readable and equally interesting. I wouldn't have bothered with the album if it weren't for your superb write up.
Thank you!
