definitely a fair conclusion. they don't really sound like a screamo band ever but they have those climaxes that are all screamo-ish

honestly this has more balls than most of the bm that it sounds like. people jump to conclude that they're just another band doing the WITTR thing but they definitely have a different approach. the thing people should remember about this band is that they are just as much a product of the SF hardcore/screamo scene as they are a product of the whole "post-black" thing that's happening now, which i think is important to understanding them.

anymore justifying your rating? or are you done now?

belligerent and stupid as always are we? i don't need to justify my opinion, last time i checked sputnik is for talking about music. sorry if you were confused about that.

this is a really great review. i don't think the record is as great as you do (it's certainly not bad), but i'm pretty impressed that you can put out a review of this quality for a genre that is mostly alien to you. i dont think there are really any users who could do a better review of this, including all of those who listen to bands like this regularly.

to an extent, but there are a lot of bands that sound similar to this that have way more balls. nonetheless, this isn't really 'heavy', though it's not really waht the band is going for.

the thing people should remember about this band is that they are just as much a product of the SF hardcore/screamo scene as they are a product of the whole "post-black" thing that's happening now, which i think is important to understanding them.

there are various influences here, but this is black metal. i repeat. this is black metal.

you spent a paragraph explaining their approach and why it puts them above the other mentioned bands

let the music speak for itself there junior

I find this to be beautiful. And I loved enslaved. As far as black metal goes, I know im not one to be

a champion of the genre but unless it has the super atmospheric/dense/layered quality to it, i'ts not

for me. Exception: symphony(no dimmu not you try like arcturus/code) and exception clean vocals.

Leviathan(post arrest) is good but still rough for me....

rasp: it's like i said before, at no point does the band really sound like a screamo or hardcore band but i don't think its ridiculous to say its somewhat telling of their influences that they often play shows with hardcore and screamo bands, and not bm bands. i won't pretend to be an expert or anything, but i'm also not retarded.

sure they might have some screamo influences, but the fact that they play shows with those sorts of bands can easily be explained by the label that put roads to judah out

Eric, check out the new album by Verwüstung. Never really dug the stuff he did under Airs, but I personally like Beyond the Watercolor Sunset, We Feel New Life better than this album.

It's much rawer than this but don't let that put you off - it's easily one of the better examples of shoegaze influenced black metal.

naw i think it was actually based on two things, one of which has two parts

1) you really like the record

2a) you write well
2b) you don't try to bullshit things you may not necessarily be familiar with, or just bullshit in general

but yeah. i need to give this a few more listens as i still don't have a solidified opinion of it.
