Correction, All of Takk is absolutely sublime. Second favorite Sigur Ros album and almost a 5.

it's my second favourite too probably, but i dunno the second half doesn't quite hit the tremendous peaks of the first. still great but not as... magical

Gong and Milano are my favorite songs on that album so I will argue otherwise.

I just love how the first half makes me feel like a child running through a mysterious jungle, full of youthful wonderment and freedom. But when the second half hits it's like I just realized that I'm lost and now those child like emotions that you can't really place have taken over and I can't decide whether I should curl up and cry or try to find my way back with the chance of getting even more lost.

That's the exact reason I prefer the first half.

same here, i don't really like when sigur ros goes dark like that, with some exceptions it feels pretty contrived.

I wouldn't say it's contrived (I mean c'mon, untitled 8) but I agree that they're at theirs best when they are uplifting. Gimme them enchanted forest feels of an endless youth over the holy-fuck-I'm-lost and something scary is chasing me vibes any day.

Best three Ros songs sum it up: hoppipolla, Svefn and rafstraumur

like i said, there are exceptions, but for the most part i find their attempts at dark and depressing undertones a little out of place, even forced at times.

good picks man, i'd swap raf for untitled 1 but other than that it's gold. Hoppipolla is the most (i cant even describe the feels) song ever. it's like the most melancholic joy you've ever felt

I prefer sigur Ros when they give me emotions that I have a hard time translating (Untitled 1, Gong, Untitled 3) where I feel a mix of so many different emotions like sorrow, love, hope, pain, and happiness.
